Hello everyone!
I have a mid-week announcement. This has been a long time coming, but the Pinup Book Club name has changed to the Vintage Book Club. It was a difficult decision to change the name, but ultimately it came down to a combination of content and accessibility. Content-wise, the goal has always been to read vintage books (with some modern-day books thrown in), but the Pinup made the scope seem limited on the types of vintage books I might read and review. This way, I will more comfortably be able to continue reviewing books from a variety of genres.
Secondly, the work pinup has, on occasion, been suppressed on various platforms. While as a historian I am interested in the term on a critical level, I believe it will be easier for me to reach a wider audience with a more neutral term. I will still explore pinup culture as I have done previously, but will be able to hopefully appeal to people who are unfamiliar with the term.
Thank you for following along with this journey! I appreciate your continued support as I work my way through Marilyn Monroe’s book list.
